EPL: Sir Alex Ferguson says Manchester United win league despite their troubled start...

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says the team can overturn a poor start to win the Premier League, despite being eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
Two wins in the last three games means that David Moyes's side have recovered from United's worst start in 14 years.
Ferguson, 71, said: "We had bad starts to the season many times.
"We are the only club in that league that can come from behind to win the league because of our history."
Ferguson, who remains a club director, retired from the manager's positionat the end of last season after winning 38 trophies in a 27-year reign.
And Moyes has struggled to win over some fans after a stuttering start to his United career.

Fernando Torres scores Chelsea's winner against Manchester City
Fernando Torres capitalised on a last-minute calamity in Manchester City's defence to give Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge.
Sergio Aguero's stunning equaliser looked to have given the visitors a point until a breakdown in communications between goalkeeper Joe Hart and central defender Matija Nastasic allowed Torres to pounce and send Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho into the crowd in celebration.
Nastasic looked in prime position to clear Willian's speculative long ball but Hart's dash from goal appeared to panic the 20-year-old Serb, who headed the ball beyond his keeper and Torres won the race to turn the ball home.
Torres had been the game's central figure, setting up Andre Schurrle's first goal since his £18m summer move from Bayer Leverkusen as well as missing a sitter and hitting the woodwork as Chelsea earned a deserved half-time advantage.

Mourinho down plays importance of Manchester City clash

Mourinho down plays importance of Manchester City clash!

Jose Mourinho has played down the significance of Sunday's Premier League showdown with Manchester City, live on Sky Sports.
Chelsea welcome City to Stamford Bridge a point better off after eight games and on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run which has included 14 goals in their last four games.
"We have to play our game," said the Portuguese boss. "We are going to play our game and let's see if our game is enough to win against them.
"I just play every game the same way. We want to win. To win is good, to lose is not good.

Mourinho believes six teams are in title contention, including Manuel Pellegrini's City.
"He has the most important thing which is an unbelievable squad of players," added Mourinho, who also maintains Manchester United are still in the running, despite already being eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Ball Tampering incident - South Africa penalised!

Ball Tampering incident - South Africa penalised!

Laws of Cricket - Law 42.3
"It is unfair for anyone to rub the ball on the ground for any reason, to interfere with any of the seams or the surface of the ball, to use any implement, or to take any other action whatsoever which is likely to alter the condition of the ball, except as permitted in (a) above."

South Africa have been penalised five runs for ball tampering during the third day of the second Test against Pakistan in Dubai.
Replays showed Faf du Plessis rubbing the ball over a zip on his trousers.
After talking to Proteas captain Graeme Smith during Pakistan's second innings, umpire Ian Gould awarded the additional runs to Pakistan.
The decision meant the umpires had decided the ball's condition had been changed contrary to the game's rules.
It is expected the umpires will lay a charge against Du Plessis to match referee David Boon after the day's play, with an immediate hearing to follow.
Gould and fellow umpire Rod Tucker, who also ordered the ball to be changed, took the unusual action at the start of the evening session in Dubai, where South Africa are on the verge of completing a comfortable victory.
After bowling Pakistan out for 99 in their first innings, Smith hit 234 and AB de Villiers 164 as South Africa made 517 in reply.
Pakistan were 132-4 at the close on day three, needing a further 286 to avoid an innings defeat.
"As per 42.1 of the ICC playing conditions, the umpires replaced the ball and fined the South Africa team five penalty runs for ball tampering," an ICC spokesperson confirmed.
The last time a five-run penalty was issued for ball tampering was during the 2006 Oval Test between England and Pakistan, when the tourists were adjudged the guilty party.
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq reacted angrily and decided not to continue the Test in protest.
Australian umpire Darrell Hair duly awarded the game to England - the only forfeited match in Test history.
This month, the ICC amended its laws regarding the condition of balls, saying "if a player responsible can be identified" the ball will be changed, a five-run penalty will be awarded and the player responsible will be reported.
Altering the condition of the ball is a level two offence under the ICC's code of conduct, which carries a penalty of 50-100% of their match fee and/or suspension from one Test or two one-day internationals for a first offence.

Number two (2) fine of £51,000 slammed on Williams for failing to secure a wheel!

Number two (2) fine of £51,000 slammed on Williams for failing to secure a wheel!

Williams have been fined £51,000 after a wheel came off Pastor Maldonado's car during Friday's second free practice at the Indian Grand Prix.
Maldonado was forced to pull off after his right-front shed a wheel nut, leading to a puncture.
It comes after the team were involved in a similar incident at Japanese Grand Prix a fortnight ago.
BBC website reports that Williams were then fined £60,000 and made improvements to the wheel retaining system.
A FIA statement read: "The stewards decide that a fine of 60,000 Euros is the most appropriate penalty in this case taking into account that this was the second offence, but on this occasion the wheel was retained."

NIGERIA thumps the inexperienced IRAQ: 5 - Nil

A Five-star display by Nigeria seals group's top spot.

Sensational Nigeria rounded off their Group F campaign with a 5-0 hammering of Iraq, a result which is good enough to see them finish top of the section as they get set for the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in UAE. Four goals in the first half set the tempo for the contest which was never really going to end well for the Iraqis, who now head for home after three straight losses. Mexico and Sweden also go through from the section as second and third-place finishers respectively.

Nigeria hadn’t lost a group-stage game at a U-17 World Cup since way back in 1993, and they weren’t in the mood to start today. Chidiebere Nwakali hit the woodwork after only two minutes, and it was a hint of things to come as the Africans roared into incredible form. Seconds later, they were into the lead whenMusa Yahaya was fouled in the area and Musa Muhammed converted form the spot.

The scorer turned provider a minute later, his cross picking out Nwakali who had loads of time and acres of space to put the ball away from close range. The Iraqis were stunned, but they managed a shot in the 13th minute. Captain Mohammed Salam’s free-kick was saved well by Dele Alampasu. The effort was a false dawn, however, and Nigeria were 3-0 up five minutes later. Kelechi Iheanacho, the Golden Eaglets’ danger-man, laid on a fine pass for Taiwo Awoniyi, but it broke loose and fell to the feet of Musa Yahaya, who made no mistake.

Iraq’s coach Muwafaq Adlool, knowing his side needed a win, made a change, bringing on Yasir Ammar for Mustafa Mohammed. The substitution sparked a positive spell for his side, but the next goal came at the other end with the Nigerians in irresistible mood. Yahaya took advantage of a rather grand error by theIraq keeper Hayder Mohammed, and poked home with ease from six yards out just before the half.

There wasn’t much action in the second half, with the Nigerians taking their foot off the accelerator andIraq looking defeated and out of ideas. On the stroke of full-time, however, Nigeria scored a fifth when substitute Chigozi Obasi hit home from 20 yards to take the Africans’ goals-for tally in the group stages to 14, one less than Brazil.

Group F has proven one of the strongest here at the UAE finals and it’s only just that three of its combatants – three-time champions Nigeria, Sweden and defending champions Mexico – should go through. Iraq, playing in their first junior finals, can hold their heads high as they head for home.

Russia  2018  World Cup - Black Players threatens to boycott...

Black players might boycott in the 2018 World Cup in Russia unless the country tackles racism in football, this has come as a suggestion from Manchester City's Yaya Toure following recent abuse he suffered.
"If we aren't confident at the World Cup, coming to Russia, we don't come," the Ivorian midfielder was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.

Uefa however is investigating Toure's complaint that he was racially abused by some CSKA fans during Wednesday's Champions League game in Moscow.
CSKA deny racist chanting took place.
The Russian club, which said it was "surprised and disappointed" by Toure's allegation, will face a disciplinary hearing on 30 October.
If found guilty, Uefa could force CSKA to close part of its stadium for a future game.
A club statement read: "Having carefully studied the video of the game, we found no racist insults from fans of CSKA."
